Meike Artelt

At present Meike Artelt is working on her PhD thesis called "Vocal communication in Asian elephants (Elephas maximus)- Acoustic repertoire and individuality."

Since October 2007 she has been doing some acoustic recordings of elephants at the Tierpark Berlin Friedrichsfelde, Zoological Garden Berlin, Zoological Garden Cologne, Tierpark Hagenbeck in Hamburg and Emmen Zoo. She is also board member and founder of the biology club BiologieNetzBerlin e.V..

Studies and academic work experience:
May-July 2007 Employed as a research assistant at the institute of ecology at the Georg-August-University Göttingen. I collected data in Sulawesi, Indonesia for the DFG aided project STORMA (Stability of Rainforest Margin).
